SUFFOLK, Virginia (May 13, 2025) Automatic Coating Ltd., a global leader in corrosion-resistant coating technologies, has announced a significant expansion of its U.S. operations in Suffolk, Virginia. The company will invest between over $4 million to add 21,000 square feet of new space to its facility at 1013 Obici Industrial Boulevard, in Suffolk Industrial Park, less than two years after launching its U.S. headquarters there.

The new addition’s groundbreaking is scheduled for early June and marks the next phase in Automatic Coating’s long-term growth strategy in the U.S. market. This expansion will enhance the company’s ability to meet increasing demand from the U.S. Navy and private-sector clients.

“This announcement further cements Suffolk’s reputation as a destination for advanced manufacturing and defense innovation,” said Suffolk Mayor Michael Duman. “Automatic Coating’s decision to expand here speaks volumes about the strength of our workforce, the quality of our business environment, and our city’s ability to support cutting-edge industries.”

The company opened its first U.S. location in Suffolk in 2023, with plans to invest $22.8 million and create 50 new jobs by 2027. They are establishing a production line supporting critical U.S. Navy contracts as well as commercial or other clients. Automatic Coating’s patented Tidal Coat system plays a key role in protecting naval ship components from corrosion, helping to extend the life cycle of essential assets by three times longer.

“As demand grows for advanced, cost-effective corrosion protection, this expansion allows us to better serve the U.S. Navy and industrial partners nationwide,” said Jocelyn Bamford, CEO of Automatic Coating Ltd. “Our team is proud to deliver innovative, American-made solutions that enhance the performance and longevity of mission-critical equipment. Suffolk has provided a strategic home base for this important work, and we’re thrilled to continue expanding here.”

The expansion reflects broader momentum across Virginia’s defense and industrial supply chain sectors. Suffolk’s assets are keys to attracting companies that bring advanced technologies, investment, and job creation to the region.
