The Point at Harbour View
The Point at Harbour View is located near the College Drive exit off I-664. The property is owned by the Suffolk Economic Development Authority (EDA) and is considered a premier site for development due to its convenient central-Hampton Roads location, proximity to the James and Nansemond Rivers' waterfront vistas, excellent visibility and easy access on/off I-664.
The site features 55 acres, currently zoned commercial park (CP); a rezoning process is in place to rezone to MUD, mixed - use development, to attract a variety of commercial applications, such as retail, office, hotel and residential, as allowed by the city's established 2035 Comprehensive Plan and codes. The switch to MUD represents more flexibility in land use. A mixed - use core development district encompasses a compact design with intense commercial use in a dense urban setting with pre-determined design criteria standards in place to achieve the highest level of attractiveness to match the surrounding communities' aesthetic. The newly constructed roundabout maximizes access to the Point with little disruption to the surrounding area. It is expected that surging population growth in Suffolk along with development at the Point will be the catalyst for future development at the former TCC site which features ample green space and waterfront promenade opportunities. The Point at Harbour View is envisioned to be an innovative, highly desirable and unique regional destination where research shows future demographics will opt to live, shop or work.
A Community Information Open House is scheduled to present information and gain public input regarding the rezoning application from Suffolk EDA and contracted development partner, Gee's Group, for the Point at Harbour View:
